So what should you do if you are not in an IIM…….??

You tried hard, gave your best shot, prepared yourself at the optimum level but probably your luck was not on your side, or may be you are lucky not to be shortlisted as it is said its not a cakewalk to survive at the IIM. So now that you have joined another B- School what you could do to be competitive as far as corporate world is concerned.

Don’t forget your olden days: It may sound boring but the fact is your aptitude is to be brushed up every now and then. Don’t forget your CAT days, even though it’s painful. Aptitude would be the critical part of your MBA program; it would be needed to complete various assignments, giving reasoning to any particular case study, and the most important of all, it would be required at the campus placements as most of the companies at these institutes give aptitude test to the students.

Be the initiator: Everybody wants to be successful in their lives. Everybody also wants to be successful quickly. Again there are people who want to be successful without working towards it. So figure out where you fit in. if you don’t fit in the last part, why you don’t work for it. Take the initiate in completing the assignments, presentations when you are asked to do the task in a team. In doing so, you will automatically be the team leader. Once you start doing so, leadership will come into your behavior, and mind you, leadership skills are the most important assets of an MBA. Trust me you will get lot of chances to be the leader; you only need to grab the opportunity.

Look out for opportunities: Mukesh Ambani once said that by 2020 we would see young entrepreneurs building companies which would be bigger than most of the billion dollar companies that we are seeing today. So you never know you might be the one. Always look out for opportunities in the sectors you are interested in, not only from the perspective of being the employee but from the perspective of being the employer. We have seen so many instances where students opting out of placements to pursue their dream of becoming entrepreneurs. So the question which is required to be answered here is do you really want to be an entrepreneur, if not then why don’t you broaden your horizon. May be one can start of working in a company and wait for the right time and opportunity to catch on.
